    PilotEdit is an amazing file editor capable of opening files larger than 400GB

    PilotEdit is a powerful file editor. The file size supported by PilotEdit is up to 400 GB (40 billion lines). It fully supports UNICODE files and DOS/UNIX files, has HEX and column modes, is able to compare multiple files and directories.

    It offers customizable syntax and keyword highlighting, advanced search and replace operations, automatic text encoding, 256-bit AES encryption/decryption and a built-in FTP/SFTP client lets you open, edit, download and upload large files directly to/from a FTP/SFTP server.

    In addition to standard text editing features, PilotEdit can compare and merge two files larger than 100GB (10 billion lines). You can also sort, find/remove duplicate lines and extract strings over a huge file larger than 1GB.

    My favorite



    This is my favorite text editor since 2010 or so (can't remember the first time I tried it). Despite all the bundled modules, it works very fast and is very light.Written by Barnaby on February 16, 2013

    More than programmer's editor (Review by ProjectBeta Editor)

    Even if you have nothing to do about computer programming, you still open and edit text-based files every day. Sure enough, basic Notepad application (a part of Windows OS) is the most common choice among new and inexperienced users, while advanced users prefer more powerful solutions like AptEdit and similar. But what if you need something beyond this?


    Here comes PilotEdit; a sophisticated text editor that you can use for editing virtually anything. Besides all text-based files (CSS, HTML, JS, PHP, TXT, etc.) support, it works with HEX files as well. Nothing special? You are right.


    All the little things that make PilotEdit so special are a built-in FTP/SFTP client (you can even edit files remotely), 256-bit AES encryption & decryption module, multiple-line find & replace (how many editors you know that can do this?), files-directories comparing and merging, regular expressions support, and many more.


    Unquestionably, it's the most powerful editor we ever used. In fact, describing PilotEdit as text editor isn't accurate. Actually, it's the ultimate all-in-one package that combines sophisticated text and HEX editors, FTP/SFTP client, file comparison tool, custom script executor, and more.
